Cheap and Romantic Ideas for Valentine's Day

Today I shall list some ideas for Valentine's that aren't gaudy or expensive. This is for the frugal and practical guys and gals out there who want to express love anytime without participating in a commercialized fluff of a "holiday".

Write a love letter or poem - It costs practically nothing to put your feelings on paper. It may not be easy to write down emotions, but practice makes perfect. You do not have to be a great writer to just recount a great date you have had with your lover and describe how happy he or she makes you. As long as you put some effort into crafting a message that expresses your adoration for your mate, whatever you do will be appreciated.

Cook a favorite meal at home - Instead of going to an expensive restaurant, it is fun to dress up a favorite meal cooked at home. You can light candles on the dinner table, dim the lights, and put on some mood music. It is also possible to duplicate expensive meals at home at wholesale costs if you are adept at cooking.

Do something that your partner likes to do but you do not necessarily appreciate - No matter how compatible a couple is, two people will have different interests. For example, if he loves fishing and you do not, maybe you can accompany him on a fishing trip. If she loves poetry readings and you do not, maybe you can read her some poems. Doing something you normally would not do for the sake of your mate can be very romantic.

Take a walk or hike together - Once my husband and I walked for a few hours on the beach and collected sea glass, and we turned it into a bit of a competition to see who found the biggest piece. When you walk together you see the world differently than from your TV or your car and I think it is romantic because walking makes the world and your lover seem more real and tangible. Health and Happiness

Let's take a look at the powerful combination of health and happiness. Feeling good, and enjoying good health are almost prerequisites for being in a perpetual state of happiness. Without good health, it creates that much more of a challenge for us to be happy, so it is an extremely worthwhile goal to obtain and maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit.

There are many people in the world who suffer from chronic pain, or severe or even terminal illnesses, but are still able to maintain a positive outlook on life, thus allowing them to experience a wondrous state of happiness.

I would like to cite the case of my own mom as an example. She suffered from and battled against Cancer for many years. While it sadly took a toll on her overall health and ability to live life to the fullest at all times, she consistently remained grateful and happy for all the good things in her life.

She had so many wonderful friends who always gave her love and support. She also adored her grandchildren. She derived so much joy from spending time with my kids and getting to ‘spoil’ them, that most of the time, it was enough to lessen the time she spent thinking about her illness.

Of course, there were times when nothing could help overcome the suffering she felt, but most times, the joy and gratitude she experienced was enough to help her through the difficult times and get through life day by day.

Having said that, imagine how much you can do with good health! Diet and Exercise are so important today. More than ever before, we are a nation of overworked, overweight individuals and if we are going to win the fight against obesity and disease, we are going to have to get off our butts and do something about it!

The good news is that once you really commit to taking good care of yourself, it easily becomes like second nature and it ends up becoming much easier for your level of happiness to begin to soar.

We are all very individual when it comes to diet and exercise programs. No one program works for everyone. Keep experimenting until you find the one you enjoy most and works best for you. The most important thing to do is take action. Thinking about improving your health does nothing; you have to work at it! (Remember to always check with your doctor before starting any diet or exercise program) Adopted from http://www.i-choose-happiness.com/healthandhappiness.html

Ask Mike Your Mortgage Questions?

Really-how is the market?

Were all hearing the Doom and Gloom in the market these days. It’s all over the media and in every newspaper you read. I thought I would share some good news and hopefully provide a brighter side to what we’re seeing. Currently interest rates are at the lowest they have been in over 30 years and the banks are keeping up with the high volume of refinances. With so much talk about banks not lending money the market is actually doing the complete opposite. The only thing the banks have really tightened up are the guidelines for qualifying. Truthfully we all needed this. If the banks would have continued to lend based on their “relaxed” guidelines we would be seeing double the amount of foreclosures which would in turn bring our market values down even more on our homes. It’s going to take a little while for the market to correct itself, but we have been headed in the right direction for several months now. There’s going to be a bottom before we climb again, but the analyst are saying we are either there or nearing it quickly. The good thing about this is if we can keep it together while the economy is slumping we will all be that much stronger coming out of it. If you have not refinanced your mortgage yet give me a call and let’s see if it would benefit you to do so. There’s no cost to apply and review your current mortgage. Maybe I can help you start your climb out of this.

If you have a mortgage that is at a 6.00% or higher interest rate it might be time for you to refinance. Please contact Mike for a free analysis. Most customers are saving over $100 per month by reducing their interest rates!
